Parts Divided

A journey into all your inner voices—to discover what moves you

Parts Divided is an interdisciplinary happening blending writing, somatic exploration, audio, and interpretative dance to take you on a guided journey into all your inner voices so you can attempt to find which is really your own.

The Exploration:

How many voices reside within? And if there are many, how to know which voice is really your own—that of your authentic self? Parts Divided is a guided journey into those voices, giving them all space to speak and giving you the page to listen.

This exploration helps you unravel where each of your inner voices comes from and which of them create movement within your life. It enables you to explore: where do your impulses originate? And to see more clearly: is your momentum your own or the accumulated force of others?

This group experience unfolds through a series of written, auditory, visual, and somatic prompts that guide participants into deep self-exploration through writing. The journey includes simple movement, an interpretive dance performance set to writing, and a book-making exercise. We close with a group discussion for integration.

Adaptable & Available Worldwide

Flexible Format

Parts Divided is designed for groups and can be adapted to different group sizes and settings. The experience is currently available in English and Spanish, with the possibility of adaptation for other languages.

Collaborative & Site-Specific

The site-specific and culturally responsive nature of this interdisciplinary happening allows it to evolve with each new setting. If you are a dancer or dance company interested in collaborating on the interpretative dance component, I welcome the opportunity to integrate local movement perspectives, deeper community engagement, and further the evolution of the work. Please get in touch to discuss.

Origins & Artistic Exploration

Developed during a one-month residency for the women of Proyecto Florecer, where I explored the intersections of writing, movement, and the inner voice through the lens of displacement and belonging in community-based artistic practice. Parts Divided emerged from an awareness of the many impulses that move us — those who flee, those who seek, those who arrive by choice. In Medellín, a city shaped by migration, I worked with refugee women, local residents, and expatriates, all drawn to the same space by different forces, yet sharing a common act of arrival.

About Project Florecer

Project Florecer is a non-profit foundation in Medellín, Colombia, dedicated to disrupting`cycles of poverty and fostering sustainable generational change through education and community service. The foundation supports women who have experience trauma, including abandonment, sexual violence, exile from their social infrastructure. Their programs offer these women and their children access to global education, business practices, and healing resources through workshops and educational experiences led by a diverse network of professionals from around the world.

Their space serves as a hub for cultural exchange and social inclusion, supporting marginalized populations — including Colombians, Venezuelans, LGBTQ+, and transgender individuals — through an international community of interns, volunteers, and local participants.
